Pennsylvania Poker Update: October 2024 – Riding the Wave of Change
By Keith Becker, PokerNews Ambassador
Hello, fellow poker enthusiasts! I’m Keith Becker, a proud ambassador for PokerNews and a native of Pennsylvania. Today, I’m bringing you the latest insights into the poker scene of the Keystone State as we gear up for an exciting future. In this October 2024 update, we’ll explore various updates, including the historic move towards multi-state online poker, new entrants in the market, and thrilling live events!
Joining the Merged Market!
Let’s not beat around the bush: Pennsylvania is on the verge of a monumental change – we’re in the process of joining the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA)! For those unfamiliar, the MSIGA allows players in different states, currently including Nevada, Delaware, Michigan, and New Jersey, to share poker liquidity. This means that soon, Pennsylvania players will have the opportunity to compete in larger pools, enhancing the overall gaming experience with bigger prize pools and exciting tournaments.
As someone who has passionately advocated for this move, I’m positively electrified! My efforts have included everything from social media campaigns to grassroots initiatives, collaborating with fellow poker lovers to urge action. Watching this become a reality is exhilarating; finally, we’re on the path toward bigger games and more vibrant promotions.
A Quick Timeline
With all the excitement brewing, it’s important to look at the timeline. On October 10, Governor Shapiro approved the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) to begin discussions around the MSIGA. Remarkably, just two weeks later, on October 23, the PGCB voted unanimously in favor of the agreement! It’s refreshing to see such swift action devoid of resistance. Furthermore, collaboration with states like New Jersey, which previously aided West Virginia’s entry into the MSIGA, suggests Pennsylvania could have a smoother journey as we venture into shared liquidity.
Welcome BetRivers
Amidst this thrilling backdrop, BetRivers made its debut in the Pennsylvania poker market. The operator recently completed a successful soft launch, providing players with early access and incentives. With many unique features like anonymized usernames aimed at minimizing unfair advantages, generous rewards, dynamic avatars, and an innovative built-in HUD called HeroIQ, BetRivers is set to shake up the landscape. I can’t wait to stream BetRivers for you all, showcasing these amazing new features!
Other PA Online News
Not to be overshadowed, BetMGM PA concluded its Gridiron Classic Series, featuring over $300,000 in guarantees. Unique prizes, such as custom jerseys, added an enticing layer for participants. Meanwhile, I’ve been actively playing on Global Poker and participating in their Eagle Series, which boasts impressive prize pools and one of the most rewarding trophy offerings to date! If you want to join me in this chase, make sure to catch my streams on Twitch!
PokerStars is also buzzing with excitement, gearing up for the North American Poker Tour (NAPT) in Las Vegas from November 1-10. With more than $4 million in payouts expected and a lively schedule of events, including karaoke nights and player parties, there’s something for every poker enthusiast. Although I fell short in my quest for a Gold Pass during the $1,000 satellite, I’ll be on-site providing coverage for PokerNews!
PA Live Poker Update
On the live poker front, there’s even more excitement. The Philadelphia Live! Poker Room just wrapped up a fantastic $250 Women’s Event. Congratulations to Caitlyn Arnwine, the winner, who not only pocketed $4,000 but also clinched a trip to London for the prestigious PokerStars Women’s Winter Festival! This event serves as a compelling reminder of the growing recognition and opportunities for female players in the poker world.
California poker ladies, don’t miss out! There’s another chance to snag a London trip at the upcoming Women’s Event at NAPT.

The poker scene in Pennsylvania is on fire, fueled by collaborative growth, new player experiences, and the commitment of dedicated individuals. As your ambassador, I’m thrilled to be part of this journey.
